Managing Director

Julie Laslett is Managing Director of Dramatic Media where she co-writes and produces educational resources using moving image. Julie trained as a maths teacher and pursued her career through to headship. She has experience of a range of educational provision including working in a high priority area. This experience has formed a rich background for many of the film dramas produced by Dramatic Media. She established the Manx Multimedia Centre as a film and production training facility for young people, and continues to work with pupils on film projects such as ‘Book to Screen’. In addition to writing and producing resources for Dramatic Media, Julie gives talks and conducts workshops on visual literacy and moving image.

 

Administration Manager

Julie Blackburn has worked for a range of companies as an administrator, and is Dramatic Media's Administration Manager. She joined the company in 2007, after taking several years out of her career to have a family. Whilst her children were young, Julie worked part-time for her local nursery school. In her role as a support to the nursery staff, she developed an interest in schools, and supporting learning. She has now brought this experience and enthusiasm to Dramatic Media, where she successfully oversees Dramatic Media's admin and sales requirements.

 

Creative Director

Caroline Webster trained as an actress and between 1984 and 1997 worked extensively in both theatre and television. Television credits include episodes of 'London’s Burning', 'All Creatures Great & Small', 'The Bill', 'Carrot on Trial', 'Hollyoaks' and four series of 'Casualty' in which she played the paramedic 'Jane Scott'.  Her theatre credits include three seasons working with internationally acclaimed playwright Alan Ayckbourn, and appearances at the Royal National Theatre and Lyric, West End. In 1993 she wrote and produced a short film called 'Fluke' and set up the Manx Multimedia Centre with her colleague Julie Laslett. Caroline and Julie formed Dramatic Media at the end of 2004, for which Caroline co-writes and directs all in-house dramas. Caroline is a consultant to Dramatic Media as Creative Director.

 

Business Director

Gillian joined the company in 2006 and has successfully built the business platform. Gillian runs her own consultancy business, GNS. Gillian Nursaw-Smith is a retired Senior Bank Manager. During her 30 years as a career banker she specialised in Finance, HR, Business Development and sponsored Management Training, IT Programmes and Administration Processes. Gillian is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and a member of the Federation of Small Businesses. She is also a member of the Trefoil Guild section of Girlguiding UK, is a PCC member of her local church, and enjoys cycling and golf. She continues to support Dramatic Media as a business director.
