EvaluationsLiteracy through Fire Safety Awareness Evaluation
Schoolzone evaluation“The children were engrossed from the start especially as the video beginning was very dramatic having an excellent opening scene, which had all the children holding their breath! All children worked well with the materials available and all achieved the purpose of the assignment... This excellent literacy resource meets many aspects within the NLS...
Each activity has been broken down into three parts; the areas that are designed to be teacher led and those for independent study. The great feature of this programme is that it is very flexible and can be used either as a complete unit of study or be incorporated into current planning.
It is very useful having all the relevant information at hand... Each of the units are as clearly laid out with specific literacy learning objectives identified, making it much easier to plan and cross reference with the National Curriculum requirements.
Each of the units offered in this programme offer a wealth of literacy activities that will engage, educate and enthral the children as well as offering so much support for the teacher.
The menu was very easy to navigate through making the whole product very user friendly.”

Schoolzone interactive whiteboard evaluationAll children enjoyed the video, which accompanied this resource. It had an enormous impact on the children, both from the PHSCE view point as well as reinforcing key literacy skills and knowledge. The lessons were certainly more lively with the addition of this resource. The Teacher's notes are very clear and direct the teacher to the when, where and why of using this programme on an interactive whiteboard. Teaching and learning are greatly enhanced by using this product on an interactive whiteboard as it makes the lessons more creative, interesting and accessible to all children, no matter what their ability. The video was of a very high standard as were the interview clips. Being able to access the resources via the whiteboard meant that it was easier to conduct whole-class discussions in which children could annotate the text.
Final Score Evaluations
Evaluate full evaluation July 2004“The students were consistently engaged by the product. They enjoyed working independently on the interactive activities... The story narrative maintained their interest throughout. They became confident in discussing media issues and quickly formed opinions regarding media bias and the presentation of celebrity culture through the press... I was particularly impressed with how the package involved students with special educational needs... The majority of students looked forward to each lesson... All classes commented that they would like to do similar lessons again.”
Schoolzone interim evaluation 2004“...the product is a good addition to many areas of the curriculum, and can be a valuable resource for English, Media and ICT in its own right, or combined with existing resources... The comprehensive resources and imaginative way in which Drama, Media and English have been brought together make this a package worth using again and again.

TEEM interim evaluation May 2004“...(Final Score) is clear, fun and intuitive in navigation and design, and supports teaching GCSE English and media studies... Well presented worksheets differentiate between purpose and ability and activities can be selected for different aptitudes... SEN students could use Final Score with teacher support; many activities should stretch the gifted and talented.”
TEEM full evaluation June 2004“... this title can virtually fulfil the speaking and listening requirements for English GCSE on its own... It’s strength is that it does not limit what it does within strict confines but will enable the teacher to use characters and situations in a variety of ways.”
TEEM web evaluation July 2004“This resource is of exceptionally high quality – I thought I had accidentally tuned in to a popular soap about London’s East End when I first watched the video..."
