How the English Language, written and spoken, is used and presented by the media.

English and the Media is a visually stimulating resource that supports the delivery of non-fiction and media focused learning for English at Key Stage 3 to GCSE.  The resource enables pupils to analyse and understand how the English language, written and spoken, is used and presented by the Media.

There are six units of work: Media Texts, Biography, Advertising, Review, Scriptwriting and Radio and Rhetoric.

The learning pack is comprised of:

1 DVD-ROM with screen materials for the six units (PowerPoint)
6 teacher books - one for each unit
The PowerPoint presentations can be used as provided, or customised to suit individual needs.

Features and Benefits

Each unit features clips of original fim drama, and/or images and audio, which provide a narrative context for curriculum-mapped activities.  The six units also provide differentiated pupil activities and comprehensive teacher notes.  Age and ability appropriate texts, (print and audio-visual) are provided, saving teachers time.

"Really excellent preparation for GCSE non-fiction reading and writing, as well as Media Studies...What I really like about these resources is that they aim high; they will challenge all students of all abilities.  It claims to be 'visually stimulating' non fiction and media focussed learning.  And it is! It is fantastic!"
